Yesterday (Monday, 27th Sept 2010) the Corporate Managers of the KRLCC was convened at Quilon bishop's house which the residence of the Education Chairman of the KRLCC and the KCBC. Managers from the following dioceses were present besides Bishop Stanley Roman, Fr. Stephen Kulakkayathil, the Secretary of the KRLCC and the Education Secretary Mr. Edward Edezheth.
1. Fr. Jacob Baiju Ben - Verapoly
2. Fr. Johnson Joseph - Punalur
3. Fr. Jose Raphael - Neyyatinkara
4. Pancretius - Trivandrum
One sister from Quilon was present representing the diocese.
It was an ordinary meeting seemed to be not that formal. After the bishop's introduction, all were asked to share their diocesan activities and other concerns.
I shared my concern about the alienated teachers who would otherwise have been used to empower our community like the Communist in the days past used this particular category for the spreading of their messages throughout the state. This was welcomed by the bishop and others.
Again i spoke of the approval of posts based on the 50:50 in the new divisions sanctioned by the department. When we were loosing many divisions and our teachers are on the street without a post, how can we employ the thrown outs from the government schools? In that case, it could be challenged in a court of law. This also was accepted.
Also, i suggested to bring all the teachers of the KRLCC dioceses under one programmes at some time. This was warmly welcomed and the bishop was enthusiastic and wanted us to organize such gatherings, if not all together, but at least regionwise.
The next meeting would preferably be in November or so and all the dioceses should be brought in and for that the venue could even be shifted to Ernakulam or so for the convenience of all.
Other discussions were held and we dispersed for lunch and left by noon.
